How To Eliminate Excuses
by Jackie Burgmann, author of “Hot at Home” – The Transformation Solution for People Who Hate The Gym

Everyone’s got them.

Excuses.

Excuses why we can’t workout today … this week … this month … this year … ever!!

As the latest internet meme says, “If you want something bad enough you’ll find a way, if you don’t you’ll find an excuse”.

So, it’s time to recognize the excuses that seem valid in the moment but really aren’t, and then wave goodbye to each and every one of them.

Let’s start by figuring out which ones of these is your favorite ‘go-to’ excuse.

“I Don’t Have Time”

Oh, but you DO do have time.

You can get a workout in as little as 10 minutes if you really want to.

Try doing a powersquat blast for 5 minutes and a pushup blast for 5 minutes.

Full body workout done. 10 minutes.

Next!

“I Don’t Feel Like It”

Wah. So what?

Surely you can spare a half hour in your entire lifetime to make that lifetime better, more comfortable, more fun to live and maybe even possibly longer?

So, get over yourself and go do it.

That takes care of that one.

“I Can’t Afford It”

HA! Right.

Not everything costs money, my friend.

A powerwalk sure doesn’t.

And outside of the cost of a pair of good running shoes, neither does running.

Or bodyweight strength training. You don’t even need equipment.

You can even do those barefoot and naked in the privacy of your own livingroom, so you don’t even need athletic clothing (however, it’s a good idea to close the drapes beforehand).

Movin’ on …

“I’m Too Out Of Shape To Work Out”

The road to success starts with one footstep.

You can’t GET in shape if you don’t START to get in shape.

Even learning to walk early in life takes baby steps so go slow at first if you’re extremely out of shape.

Keep going and be consistent and before you know it, walking will turn to running, light weight training will turn to heavier lifting and you’ll start seeing results, both in your energy levels and your appearance.

So, get out there and start. NO ONE is ‘too far gone’.

“My Thyroid Is The Real Problem”

First try that workout and get your calories in check before writing the whole thing off to something that actually is NOT insurmountable.

You will probably be surprised to learn that even with a little effort and a nutritional makeover you’ll start seeing results quickly.

Oh, and have you actually had that thyroid tested? Or is it just the easy scapegoat (aka: excuse)?

So, moving on, right?

“I’m Tired”

Oh boo hoo. I’ve got news for you. We’re ALL tired.

It’s a dog eat dog world out there and for the most part we’re all working hard to meet our responsibilities and keep ourselves and our kids fed and clothed.

A good, hard workout can actually make you feel energized again. It cranks up your metabolism and gets the endorphins racing which wakes up your brain.

Onward …

“I Get Bored”

If you’re bored by what you’re doing, then whatever you’re doing isn’t the right workout for you. Plug in to something you’re not bored by.

If you don’t like to run then go to the gym and pick up some challenging iron.

If you don’t like to weight train then go for a swim, a cycle, a hike, play tennis… ANYTHING that gets you moving and isn’t boring TO YOU!!

“I’m Too Embarrassed By My Weight To Be Seen At The Gym”

I’ve got news for you, NO ONE CARES.

Everyone at the gym is there for the same reason you’re there: TO WORK OUT.

No one’s looking at you, and even if they are, they’re more likely thinking “good for him/her, getting in shape, that’s awesome”, not whatever horrible thing you’re imagining they’re thinking.

And if you just can’t get over it, then the home workout is probably right up your alley. Pick up a solid home workout program (like ahem … “Hot at Home”) and get to work in the privacy of your very own home. It IS possible to get in the best shape of your life without ever stepping foot into that scary ol’ gym.

So, suck it up and either hit that gym anyway, or get your hands on that home workout program and GET TO WORK!

So which excuse are you? Are you ready to say goodbye to it and get on with getting in shape? You should be.

The rest of your life starts now. Don’t let it slip past while you’re busy making excuses.

Byline:
If you’re ready to stop making excuses and get to work but you know that the gym isn’t the place for you, then grab “Hot at Home” now and get in the best shape of your life in the privacy and convenience of your own home.
